Southland Integrated Services, Inc. ("SIS") takes seriously the confidentiality and security of the
information we maintain. Unfortunately, we recently identified and addressed a cybersecurity
incident involving some of this information.
On October 18, 2023, we identified suspicious activity within our computer systems. We immediately launched an investigation with assistance from cybersecurity professionals and worked quickly to secure our environment. Our investigation determined that the unauthorized user accessed the files on our systems between October 16, 2023 and October 18, 2023. Our review determined that the unauthorized party accessed files that contained information pertaining to some of our patients. We are still reviewing the impacted documents, but, to date, have identified documents that contained patients' names, addresses, dates of birth, diagnosis and/or treatment information, and/or health insurance information.
On November 10, 2023, we began mailing notification letters to individuals whose information we identified in the documents so far. Our review is continuing and we will notify additional individuals if we determine their information was impacted. It is always a good idea to review the statements patients receive from their healthcare providers and health insurers. If patients see services that they did not receive, they should contact the provider or insurer immediately.
SIS established a dedicated, toll-free call center to answer questions about the incident, available at (888) 996-3981, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
To help prevent something like this from happening again, we have implemented additional safeguards and technical security measures to further protect and monitor our IT system.
